Bringing Abrego Garcia back to face trafficking charges (allegedly) during first trump administration.
I know this is going to ruffle some feathers, but I'll ask it anyway Since the initial argument was that Trump will be a dictator on day one, ruin the economy w/ tariffs, ignore courts and due process etc. But now the complaint is that he "always chickens out" and doesn't follow through... doesn't that mean the people who oppose him are basically dead wrong about the nature of his governing? IOW, he's either a fascist dictator or he chickens out... tough to have it both / ways. Can anyone help me complete the square wrt this? Edit: do I have time left for another edit?
Hands up who thinks a man fifteen years in the job resigns unless he is certain of his reasons? Federal Prosecutor Resigns Over DOJ's Handling Of Abrego Garcia Case: Report A top federal prosecutor abruptly resigned over concerns that the Department of Justice was pursuing a criminal case against Kilmar Abrego Garcia for political reasons, ABC News reported. Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported to a notorious prison in El Salvador, was returned to the U.S. on Friday — where Attorney General Pam Bondi also announced he had been indicted on human smuggling in connection to a 2022 traffic stop. Prior to the indictment, which was filed under seal in a federal court in Tennessee in May, Abrego Garcia had not been accused of any crime. The new criminal case prompted Ben Schrader, the chief of the criminal division for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Nashville, to resign after 15 years with the office, ABC News reported. I find it odd because he could have stayed in his position and obstructed (to some degree). By resigning he's enabling what he fears. So, sure...
By resigning, as a big boss, he isn’t stepping away from duty, he’s stepping into it. In systems sliding toward corruption, the act of conspicuous refusal is often the last remaining way to serve the official oath they take. This is a message to subordinates and will result in a fair number of lost files and disobedience from the competent. Offices with leaders who treat integrity as structural, attract and select good people. “The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.” — Hannah Arendt, Eichmann in Jerusalem
Trump knows his place, will let everyone push him around if they allow laws to prevent weaponized gov't. from being used against "him". He will spend the country into bankruptcy so long as the right people get paid. The next president should be a masochistic small gov't fanatic.
Or their poison preferably. I hate to see such protest resignations tucked away in stories, they should be the main story.
