This is a bad idea. The government should not be owning stocks or companies, and this is a way to do that through the back door. And before you tell me about all the other countries that do it, they also should have no ability to buy into US companies, or at least be forced to be limited to a small percent of the stake. The SNB owning some ridiculous % of apple is insane. So you can print your own currency and use it to buy shares? That's nuts.
I wonder why the US government would have any interest in shares of, say, TikTok (the troublesome kids), or Tesla or SpaceX... hmm, it's a puzzler.
It's total socialism. The government buying shares of US companies is a massively bad idea. Trump is an idiot for even suggesting it.
Imo, no. Now if workers were taking ownership of the businesses they labor in, aka employee-owned business, then yeah, socialism. No, this is standard fascism, uniting business with government and of course the armed forces come with the deal. Conveniently, Elon Musk is now a part of government, he leads by example!
He's been signing EO's all 2weeks.....just as someone is putting the docket on his desk , he says. ''Tell me what i'm about to sign.''
This is known as the "King's purse". It's a slush fund for the monarchy to reward friends and punish enemies. Sovereign and King are like peas and carrots.
Ok, you're technically correct in that socialism means the workers own everything, but that's not how reality works. The government actually "owns" and makes the decisions and claims its in the worker's interest. In the Soviet Union, workers didn't actually own jack shit. The politboro did.
Versus Biden who signed everything they put on his desk without knowing or understanding what any of it was for/about. God forbid the President ask what he is signing, eh?
