Trump plans 'major announcement' regarding social media at a press conference Wednesday https://www.theblaze.com/news/trump-social-media-announcement Former President Donald Trump will reportedly make a "major announcement" during a press conference on Wednesday related to his plans for social media. "Mr. Trump will have a major announcement about social media," said a source close to Trump to Newsmax. The press conference is planned for 11 a.m. from the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. Newsmax will carry the briefing live. The former president has teased plans for a new social media platform since he was banned by the major tech companies over accusations that he was inciting violence through his claims of a rigged election. Facebook has said they will reconsider their ban on Trump but Twitter has already said he will be banned for life. A second source told Newsmax that Trump plans to address and confront the social media companies that banned him from their platforms. Trump had previously promoted a personal message board in May in order to reach his millions of supporters but that website was eventually dismantled. On Thursday, former Trump team members launched their new social media platform called Gettr, which was supposed to compete with Twitter, but the former president told the media that he was planning his own app. Gettr was briefly hacked within hours of being launched when someone was able to change screen names of famous accounts and post pro-Palestinian messages. In March a source from the Trump team told Fox News that they were taking their time on the new social media platform because they'd only get one chance to get it right. In an interview in February the former president told Newsmax that Twitter had become very boring and that he wouldn't return to it even if they lifted their permanent lifetime ban.
LOL Trump to sue Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey https://www.axios.com/trump-lawsuit-facebook-twitter-82323cf3-b8ce-48ed-8cab-cafe31f0bae7.html Former President Donald Trump, who has complained about censorship by social media giants, plans to announce class action lawsuits today against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, sources tell Axios. Why it matters: It's the latest escalation in Trump's yearslong battle with Twitter and Facebook over free speech and censorship. Trump is completely banned from Twitter and is banned from Facebook for another two years. Details: Trump is scheduled to make an announcement at a press conference today at 11 am. Trump's legal effort is supported by the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), a non-profit focused on perpetuating Trump's policies, through a new legal entity called the Constitutional Litigation Partnership. AFPI's president and CEO and board chair, former Trump officials Linda McMahon and Brooke Rollins, will accompany him during the announcement. Class action lawsuits would enable him to sue the two tech CEOs on behalf of a broader group of people that he argues have been censored by biased policies. Facebook and Twitter declined to comment. To date, Trump and other conservative critics have not presented any substantial evidence that either platform is biased against conservatives in its policies or implementation of them. The big picture: Data shows that Trump's megaphone has been significantly muzzled in light of bans from Big Tech platforms, particularly Twitter and Facebook. The president and his allies have repeatedly criticized the bans as censorship. The tech giants argue they were put in place for safety reasons following the Capitol siege in January. Facebook's independent Oversight Board affirmed Facebook's decision to suspend Trump in May. Even during his presidency, Trump has tried to take aim at both CEOs and tech companies. In 2020, he signed an executive order that was meant to limit the legal protections that shield social media companies from liability for the content users post on their platforms. President Biden revoked that executive order in May. Between the lines: Trump has often sued people in the course of his career, but rarely actually followed through in terms of winning a judgment or even taking cases to trial. What to watch: Lawsuits and actions targeting Big Tech platforms serve as ammunition for Trump's conservative base. Down-ballot Republican candidates have latched onto messages around censorship as part of their campaigns and messaging tactics.
ROTFLMAO Trump announces suits against Facebook, Twitter and Google https://www.wral.com/ap-source-trump-plans-lawsuit-against-facebook-twitter/19761143/ Former President Donald Trump announced Wednesday he is filing suits against three of the country's biggest tech companies: Facebook, Twitter and Google, as well as their CEOs. Trump said he was serving as lead plaintiff in the class-action suits, claiming he has been wrongfully censored by the companies. “We're demanding an end to the shadow-banning, a stop to the silencing and a stop to the blacklisting, banishing and canceling that you know so well," Trump said at a news conference at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf course. The suits were filed in U.S. District Court for Florida's southern district. Trump was suspended from Twitter and Facebook after his followers stormed the Capitol building on Jan. 6. The companies cited concerns that he would incite further violence. Currently, he can no longer post on either platform. Nonetheless, Trump has continued to spread lies about the 2020 election, baselessly claiming that he won, even though state and local election officials, his own attorney general and numerous judges, including some he appointed, have said there is no evidence of the mass voter fraud he alleges. Under Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act, internet companies are generally exempt from liability for the material that users post. The law, which provides a legal “safe harbor” for internet companies, also allows social media platforms to moderate their services by removing posts that, for instance, are obscene or violate the services’ own standards, so long as they are acting in “good faith.” But Trump and other politicians have long argued that Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms have abused that protection and should lose their immunity — or at least have to earn it by satisfying requirements set by the government. Facebook, Google and Twitter all declined comment Wednesday.
Donald Trump, “The damages imposed could be trillions.” It’s so hard to believe he was actually the president of the United States. Trillions, y’all.
I suppose you got to take your shot wherever when you personally guaranteed hundreds of millions in loans and all of your business interests are in the gutter. He is dumping a lot of that political action committee money he raised post election into lawsuits he hopes will make him some kind of money. Scamming Trump. Too bad he doesn’t have even a smidgen of a case. Poor guy.
