Watch: Crowd Goes Wild When Trump Makes Surprise Appearance at UFC Event

President Donald Trump received a roaring ovation from fans, fighters, and celebrities alike when he made a surprise appearance at UFC 314 in Miami, Florida on Saturday night.

Flanked by his grandchildren, UFC President Dana White and a handful of guests, Trump’s appearance marked the second time he has attended a UFC event while in office. Trump became the first sitting president to attend a fight card when he turned up at UFC 244 in New York City just before the COVID-19 pandemic in November of 2019.

On Saturday night, the president received a loud pop from the crowd as he made his entrance, leading UFC play-by-play commentator Jon Anik to note that he received a standing ovation from the Kaseya Center crowd. The president stopped to shake hands with supporters and fans as he made his way to his Octagon-side seat next to Dana White and Elon Musk.

“Is there anybody else that has a walk-in? Other than a fighter?” UFC color commentator Joe Rogan remarked. “I mean he has his own music, Kid Rock starts playing.”

Fellow commentator Daniel Cormier, who was also on announcement duties for the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia last month, noted that Trump had his own walkout at that event as well. “He had one at the NCAA Tournament too! He always gets a walk-out. It’s like a prerequisite for him coming,” Cormier said. “Give him the walk-out. People love it!

Before making his way to his Octagon-side seat, Trump stopped to greet the commentators and a number of cage-side celebrities. NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal was one such celebrity, as the former Miami Heat star sought out the president and shook his hand before having a brief conversation with him.

Trump once again received a roaring pop from the crowd when he was shown on the arena’s Jumbotron just before the start of the main card.

UFC light heavyweight Dominik Reyes, who continued an incredible three-fight comeback winning streak with another first round knockout, made his way to the side of the cage to chat with Trump after his win. The two shook hands and spoke for about a minute before members of Reyes’ team also made their way over to greet the commander-in-chief.

Trump — who played a key role in securing venues for the UFC in the promotion’s early days — has become a fixture at fight cards in recent years. Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, Trump attended just about every U.S. pay-per-view event in various cities, receiving a roaring ovation each time.

He also showed up just days after clinching the presidential election in what was far and away the president’s most triumphant entrance.
