He said he would institute a national registry for Muslims if he were President. Never mind Congress would never pass such a law and if somehow they did Federal courts would strike it down immediately. Either he does not understand the Constitution and the mechanics of our government or he thinks - correctly I believe - that most of his supporters don't. He is all tone and no substance. Nearly every major initiative he has unveiled will never happen. He said, for example, if he were President: "I'll build a wall between the US and Mexico and make Mexico pay for it. I'm a builder." What's his logic ? He builds luxury condos and people pay for them therefore he can build a wall and the Mexicans will pay for it? "I'll expel 11 million illegal immigrants in 2 years" That's 500,000 a month. Any idea of what kind of logistical challenge that would be? What the cost of that would be? Then he says he will let them back in if they apply for a Visa? WTF. Why deport them in the first place? He has a child's conception of the Presidency, as though the President is omnipotent. Or more likely, he thinks - correctly I believe - that most of his supporters have a child's conception of the Presidency.
I don't disagree that Trump is more show than substance. They all are, but he has taken it to a new level. That said, we get hit here on the homeland and you can say hello to President Trump, along with a republican landslide in both houses.
I don't think any sane person wants Trump as CIC. Or Carson. Or Cruz... The Party of Fear & Loathing should be afraid of its own candidates.
The same can be said for Clinton or Sanders. Sanity left the political arena many moons ago. If I have to pick from the five mentioned in this thread, I'll take Cruz. A fight is coming Freddie boy, and I don't want a guy who thinks the weather is a bigger threat, or a woman would can't bring herself to call a spade a spade at the helm.
I like Sanders. I really do. However, and I could be mistaken, he doesn't quite come across as CIC material. But I hope he gets a cabinet position in the next Democratic government. As for Clinton, she has more testosterone than all of the Republican hopefuls combined. But, fortunately, not the reptilian grade shit that the Republican candidates have been self-administering.
At this point I find it difficult to support any of the candidates from either party for the 2016 election.
Well, I'll probably shock you right out of your seat, but I'd like Sanders too...in a very different world than which we live. The beast is out there and the beast is hungry. There will be no reasoning with this enemy. Clinton? I just can't get behind another Clinton any more than another Bush. It's got to be a repub this time around and I'm just trying to figure out who has some semblance of reality to their ideology. It ain't easy.
