“A Justice Department inquiry launched more than two years ago to mollify conservatives clamoring for more investigations of Hillary Clinton has effectively ended with no tangible results, and current and former law enforcement officials said they never expected the effort to produce much of anything,” the Washington Post reports. https://lawandcrime.com/high-profil...-has-reportedly-found-nothing-worth-pursuing/
And it turned out that Russia already had lots and lots of uranium, the end. Now Greta Thunberg gets the republican if she is not actually that bad, make it all up and try and forget you did brainwash treatment. Thanks to Roger Ailes..
Truth is out of fashion. Ignorance among American voters is the Republicans' ace in the hole. The Republicans' natural constituency, the less principled among the capital class, is far too small to elect anyone. The Democrats' natural constituency, labor, is far larger. Despite this, appealingly packaged Republican lies, relentlessly served up by talk radio and Fox's talking heads, are proving irresistible to a sizable fraction of labor's voters. The total abandonment of truth by our president and the far right media, together with the latter's clever use of out-of-context political rhetoric and hyperbole, has succeeded in swelling both the far right media's audience and revenues. It seems to have also resulted in more of capital's voters being drawn from labor, who may be too busy making ends meet to get their news from multiple sources.* When any principled person considers that Republican policy objectives are the exact opposite of what would be in labor's best interest, they must be simultaneously repulsed by, and in admiration of, the far right's success. When it comes to politics, Republicans, and especially our president, understand perception is far more important than reality. If you believe something is true, it must be true. Democrats insist on harping on what is actually true. They are fighting a losing battle. Sadly for them the truth is very much out of fashion. _________________ *There can be no question about the important role social media now plays, especially considering its scope and susceptibility to pernicious content due to lack of effective gatekeepers. The truth is in a more vulnerable position than it has been since the advent of the printing press.
