Trump Change His Tune About Fed Stimulus?

Discussion in 'Economics' started by Scataphagos, Mar 12, 2020.

  1. We all know Trump's been whining like a little girl at Powell and the Fed to "get in there an DO something"... cut rates, pump money... some damned thing to goose the markets!

But yesterday Trump surprised me with his comment, "perhaps we don't need stimulus".

What that really means, IMV, is he's accepted (and rightfully so) that no amount of monetary stimulus will have a beneficial effect on the markets or the economy until we get a handle on the outlook for the progression of the virus.

    FWIW...

    Hahahahahaha. .

All of the sudden. The only reason why we are plunging now is because of the decade long Prop job that the fed gave wallstreet....if markets were trading normal and without fed intervention this kind of collapse right now would not have been taking place, one reason is the markets wouldn't have been trading as high as they were to begin with...now because of the height of the markets without a true meaningful pullback over the last 10+ years is why they are collapsing today.

There's a big difference between fiscal stimulus and monetary stimulus. Much of the inner workings of monetary stimulus are solely the purview of the Fed and only get occasional mention on the financial networks when some ratios get significantly out of line. Trump's only concern should be working to determine what (if any) types of support the legislative branch can provide to the consumer and businesses - and making sure Powell has everything he needs to do his job.

You continue to post incredible nonsense on this site and seemingly have learned nothing from being wrong for 11 years straight and running. Yes, your posts right now won't look great in a year. We have had numerous meaningful pullbacks you just are never satisfied. Specifically in late 2015 / early 2016 you were particularly clueless in this fashion.

Blaming the Fed for the capitalist business cycle and human nature is like blaming the Fed for your girl friends pregnancy.

Usually when I am slumming with Traders I feel like I am at the dog track. So nice that every once in a while you meet sanity even if it is at the dog track. Thanks.
