We're subsidizing Canada to the tune over $100 billion a year. We're subsidizing Mexico for almost $300 billion. We shouldn’t be – why are we subsidizing these countries? If we're going to subsidize them, let them become a state. We're subsidizing Mexico and we're subsidizing Canada and we're subsidizing many countries all over the world. And all I want to do is I want to have a level, fast, but fair playing field.

Tariffs are a way correct trade imbalance.
US working class has suffered long enough.
Tariffs are a way to pay for tax cuts, Trump has more rich friends now.

  4. tariffs are paid by the working class..

so according to you the rich get tax cuts and working class gets to pay for them through tariffs?

Econ 101 was not a class at your vocational HS?

  6. Trump offered Canada a solution,

They could avoid tariffs by becoming an American state.

That's pretty damn generous if you ask me. I would have just offered them a chance to become a territory. No way I want two Canucks in our Senate. Clearly Mr. Trump is a giver.

My Canadian daughter pays far more taxes in your country than you do.

What trade imbalance ? The easiest way to correct the tiny imbalance with Canada is stop buying Canadian heavy Oil at below market prices. Simply buy the Oil at higher prices from other countries. You then would have a huge trade surplus with Canada.

Of course, your consumer gas prices would spike but all in the name of patrionism right ?

  9. Maybe Canada doesn't want to get grabbed by the country.
