Really? Its Obama's fault for test kit shortage for a disease that wasn't even around back then, based on some obscure decision you aren't even specifying? And we're supposed to take your word for it? I'm telling you, friends on the left, you don't need to attack this man. He'll take himself down with his idiocy if you just let him. ------------------------------------ Trump attempts to blame Obama for coronavirus test kit shortage President vaguely attacks Obama administration ‘decision’ amid slow rollout of testing for virus It was unclear what Obama administration decision Trump was referring to. Photograph: Christof Stache/AFP via Getty Images Donald Trump sought to shift blame on to the Obama administration for a nationwide coronavirus test kit shortage. The president on Wednesday blamed a federal agency decision during Barack Obama’s presidency, which Trump said made it harder to quickly roll out testing for the virus. “The Obama administration made a decision on testing that turned out to be very detrimental to what we’re doing, and we undid that decision a few days ago so that the testing can take place in a much more accurate and rapid fashion,” he told reporters during a White House meeting with airline executives, whom he had called to discuss the economic effects of the outbreak. “That was a decision we disagreed with,” he said. “I don’t think we would have made it, but for some reason, it was made.” It was unclear what decision Trump was referring to. Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said private laboratories used to be able to develop clinical tests but “in the previous administration that became regulated. For someone to do that they had to file with the FDA”, Redfield said. But experts on lab testing have said they are unaware of an Obama administration rule that would have hindered the use of tests developed at university or private labs in an emergency. The responsibility for the coronavirus test kit shortage appears to lie with the CDC’s choice to develop and distribute its own kit rather than use the one recommended by the World Health Organization, according to ProPublica. But the CDC’s tests didn’t work, falsely flagging harmless samples that contained viruses other than Covid-19. Moreover, Trump ordered the dissolution of the National Security Council’s global health security unit and reassigned its head. The former national security adviser John Bolton also pressured the team’s counterpart at the Department of Homeland Security to resign. Trump attacked Democrats for warning of the seriousness of the crisis while spreading disinformation and downplaying the outbreak, his critics have said. Two days before he was announced as a member of the White House taskforce on coronavirus, Larry Kudlow, the director of the National Economic Council, declared coronavirus “contained” in the US, despite a plethora of data that suggested it was not. “I won’t say airtight, but it’s pretty close to airtight,” Kudlow told CNBC, swaddling himself in a comforting narrative that was probably destroyed in his first meeting with the task force. Last week, a senior health department official alleged that she was retaliated against after raising concerns that staff had been sent to assist Americans evacuated from China because of coronavirus without proper training or appropriate protective gear. “If efforts are being made to muzzle them, to control messaging so that it suits the political needs of the administration,” Michael Carome of Public Citizen, a not-for-profit consumer advocacy organization, said, “that’s ultimately going to endanger the public.”
It might be too late now, but I truly believe that this man would never have made it so far if the left hadn't been so keen to completely destroy him. All that did was make his supporters dig in like a tick. At this point, your only way of unseating him is to run a campaign based on common sense - but good luck with the candidates you've fielded. I'm hoping Biden's primary run - which had him move strongly to the progressive left in order to win over the loons - begins to moderate and he comes back to the Joe we used to know, even if it means he has a bit of dementia. And I hope he picks a solid - MODERATE - running mate. That would entice people like myself who are begging to not vote for Trump to vote for Biden.
All Trump is interested is in holding on to power . . . . . he doesn't care two bits about the people.
Trump is misinforming I hesitate to even print the United States president's words here, because they're so at odds with what health experts are saying. But the president's statements to Sean Hannity are significant because millions of people were watching live. In a phoner with Hannity on Wednesday night, Trump reacted to the World Health Organization's data-driven assessment of the global death rate for the novel coronavirus — 3.4% — by saying "I think the 3.4% is really a false number." "Now, this is just my hunch," Trump said, which should have spurred Hannity to interrupt, but he didn't, so Trump continued, "based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this, because a lot of people will have this, and it's very mild -- they'll get better very rapidly, they don't even see a doctor, they don't even call a doctor -- you never hear about those people, so you can't put them down in the category of the overall population, in terms of this corona flu, and/or virus. So you just can't do that." Trump continued by discarding his own administration's advice to stay home if you're feeling sick: "If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better, just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work, some of them go to work, but they get better, and then when you do have a death, like you've had in the state of Washington, like you had one in California, I believe you had one in New York." No deaths have been reported in New York. "You know," Trump said, "all of a sudden it seems like 3 or 4%, which is a very high number, as opposed to a fraction of 1%. But again, they don't know about the easy cases because the easy cases don't go to the hospital. They don't report to doctors or the hospital in many cases. So I think that that number is very high. I think the number, personally, I would say the number is way under 1%." Hannity televised Trump's irresponsible "hunch" to the world... Ignorance on display Trump went on to reiterate his ignorance about the seasonal flu. He made remarks to this effect last week, but I'm surprised he's still saying it, since his aides surely cautioned him not to admit that he didn't know about the fatal nature of the flu. "With the regular flu, we average from 27,000 to 77,000 deaths a year. Who would think that? I never knew that until six or eight weeks ago," Trump told Hannity...
Trump has made himself immune to criticism in a way that is uncanny. His base can be shown the receipts from any major lie and the answer is always "Fake News!", "Obama", "Hoax" and they still support him. Hillary thought she could just point out Trump's comments on women, Mexicans, disabled reporters and walk into the WH as in the past people who committed such flubs actually had to resign from the race. We are in a new paradigm where people no longer care about Trump's lies, Biden's gaffes so it kind of changes everything. I remember when Bill Clinton simply said Bush Sr. lied about no new taxes and it was so destructive to Bush's campaign back in 1992. 2020.....it is a reality show contest between sides who just want you to lose no matter what is on their side. Kellyanne can get someone elected now.... wtf?
