19 year old Trayvon Martin was acquitted of 2nd degree murder charges today as a jury of 6 women rejected the state's contention that he had not acted in self defense. Martin contended that he had acted out of fear of imminent death the night he killed George Zimmerman, 26 in a small hamlet in Florida. The two men encountered each other on a lone street corner late at night, each deeply suspicious of the other. A fight ensued and as Martin was on top of Zimmerman, the latter pulled a gun out and fired at Martin, who said he was able to deflect Zimmerman's arm just quickly enough to avoid a point blank probable lethal shot. Martin held Zimmerman's right arm which held the gun and shouted for him to drop the gun as he pummeled him furiously. Zimmerman later died from his wounds. Justice for Zimmerman, a group founded by a loose knit group of stock and currency traders, issued a statement, "This is a sad day for law abiding tax paying citizens"
