Anyone successfully traded when unwell for long periods? High temprature, headaches, stomach aches etc Guess its sensible not to but some people got to earn no matter what to pay for break and milk.
Hey pip. You can always make more money, but you can't make more time, and time taken out of the proper rest, equals to a shorter life. Proper rest/sleep - the best medicine. (given the fact, that immune system works 70% faster while we are a sleep) Prioritize well, since you can't take that $ into the grave. ,,Egyptians tried. Got robbed.'' - Denzel Washington Swing trading, would give you this luxury of being irrelevant, about the things that are happening there in your account, while you're away for few days, healing. Besides, judgement and decision making suffers while you're not well. Thus, one might have this illusion, of being professional no matter what, but in reality the choices are of - low quality.
Good points, however i guess it depends on your strategy and how unwell you are. Some people need to earn to put bread on the table and pay daily rising bills.
I remember a meeting with a top research analyst from one of the top investment banks 18 years ago. He was on a roadshow promoting his research. A few weeks after the meeting the sales rep told me that the analyst had passed away. The analyst knew he had advanced cancer, but had gone on the roadshow anyway. He was wealthy by any standard measure. He just didn't know how to stop. I was young and decided never to work for an investment bank.
If you don't care about your health / mental well being when you're ill... Why bother to ask the questions in the first place ? Simply, go ahead and just trade to earn that pay. Yet, if you're located in one of those Coronavirus hot spots... Go to see a doctor for a checkup just to make sure you're not super sick. wrbtrader
For long periods no, but just for one day or two, doing some light trading activities, monitoring positions but still be prepared to make quick decisions in a split second, doing some research and etc., it's doable, not pleasant but doable. Just don't expect some spectacular trading profit. Better to just take some time out to rest and trade when recovered a bit.
If my mojo is lacking I will either take the day off or trade less actively. Knowing when not to trade is something to strive for. Fidelity studied account performance of all their clients - those that were dead did the best.
trust me its not worth the risk. a while back i traded while i was under the weather which resulted in me placing a couple of bad trades in which i lost a lot of money. good thing i recovered it pretty quickly. when trading you need COMPLETE control over your emotions, and this is hard to due when under the weather.
Depends on how you trade. If your trading requirements are such that you need to sit in front of the computer all day everyday, this can be difficult, and may eventually lead to mistakes that could be costly. If it is feasible, perhaps alter your trading style such that you only need a few minutes or so a day. Such that it is more passive. You can monitor more easily than being active. I.e.: Instead of setting up trades such that you need to do 5x/day. Perhaps make it so you have 1 or 2 that can be traded anytime that week or month. A smaller amount of income is better than none, and better than getting sicker (and making costly mistakes).
