hi everyone. I am looking at trying to set up a room in East Toronto. I have traded institutionally in the past and love the environment that trading floor creates. That said i understand traders like the idea of being at home, no commute etc. My trading right now is algo driven on FX but I used to run a room for futures and equities.

    please weigh in

Google coworking in the location you are interested in and then tell people where you are. if there is no coworking then set one up as they are growing exponentially in tech centers.

People vary hugely in their feelings about this, don't they?

It depends on their attitudes, domestic circumstances and perhaps even their sociability, too?

I know there are many people who love to have a "room" of that kind to work in, to interact with other traders, to get out of the house, and so on ... I'm kind of the opposite. One of the great attractions, for me, of this career and business is the facility of working from home and not having to go out.

I know an independent trader who goes to Ibiza for 4 months of the year (out of season for all the music and nightclubs, November to March) and uses a coworking place there with great facilities. But that may be mostly to avoid the cold English winter.

There's a few websites that specifically list "co-working" locations in all major cities in the world...including Toronto.

Yeah, use Google to find those websites to locate the "co-working" locations in Toronto. If you can not find them via Google...use your telephone book...they will be listed in the telephone book.

I myself found 3 new co-working locations in my city that were not even listed on Google but was listed in the telephone book...maybe because they are new.

After that, you just need to find a few traders to use these locations that you're using. You can do that via inviting them to visit you at the co-working location to see if they want use it too...

Most folks using co-working are entrepreneurs or small business owners that need a temporary work location for whatever reasons.
