Indicators are just worthless, seen so many traders with a crap ton of indicators on there screens. Stopped using indicators years ago and started to focus on finding patterns. This is a simple strat coded in 15min, not optimized. Just trades 1 pattern no indicators and goes long and short. Nasdaq futures Contracts:2 Commission: 5rt Slippage: 1 proof you don't need indicators to trade
Send us live results I know lot of guys creating super-smooth equities and statistics in their MT, NT, MCH, TS and other softwares and most of them are not able consistently generate profit (especially trading only one FX pair, or one futures contract)... Only live is evidence, that strategy is working. And I agree, that indicators are not needed for successful trading
Will do, this pattern doesnt generate often, and i havent run it live yet. Next time i see a signal ill run it live. ill download some market replay data and increase the slippage
Yeah, I played this game lite years ago, but if sample size not like 3,000 or larger, it is so foolish to even consider and based on dailies, has to cover like twenty years to cover government cycles completely. You get the right four years of data in some market you can have 90% winning trades but test it over 20 years and find it fails miserable. And there is nothing wrong with indicators IF the trader knows everything about comparisons of the indicator to price, but to many traders don't have a clue what the indicator should be doing in relationship to the price and looking for "odd" patterns which are most important. Most wouldn't even know that have a 21 EMA and just price a divergence can occur and is very strong signal or hidden divergences using oscillators, most don't even have a clue of what price must do to make indicator go up or down. And best way to use indicators is by what the books don't say to use them. In my trading, I don't use Price patterns as a way to get in, I use them to disregard a signal I may have or to take profit quicker. I have found way too many people use price patterns which makes them become over used and losing percentages are too high for me to use. I am constantly working on lowering my losing percentages, if I am seldom losing, I can average down.
Sharpe's ratio is 0.12. That needs to about 20 times higher before I'd consider trading any strategy.
