Does anyone know a good platform that you can generate orders in excel to place them on a platform for listed equities?

It seems like an easy problem but I haven't been able to find a solution.

    Thanks

I cannot answer the question directly but I can point you in a direction you may want to research. Some vendors have produced Excel addins that implement the FIX protocol - this is a standard used for sending market orders to brokers.

Through an internet search I came across this one -

    http://www.macd.com/xlfix/

You can evaluate the product. I suspect that if you download it there will be a good example of the sort of thing I think you are looking for.

You may mind other similar products by searching for excel fix protocol

Contact indexfuturos. They have implemented a similar trading tool.

    I found a bunch of these Excel/FIX front-ends:

    quickfixengine.org
    aptcompsys.com/fixcel
    cameronsystems.com/products/nettrader.html
    macd.com/xlfix

Do any of them work with any of the brokers?
...to enter orders for US equities, in my case...

  7. I'm also curious about this. Anybody with direct experiences with any of these Excel/Fix tools?

Depending on your clearing firm, broker or routing provider there is several very small differences on how they interpret FIX. So you will have to read up on each destinations FIX specifications. Recovery after a disconnect is often the largest issue.

I'm often curious why folks want to extend all the order handling logic to the desktop. Have you ever thought about sending an indication or trigger to a existing OMS ? That would leave buying power, cancel reject events, etc to be handled by a profesionally licensed OMS.
