Hi guys. This thread is for ideas about what a trader that want to act like a professionnal should have as trading desk, and on his trading desk. All ideas are welcome, from the "post it" stuff to the data center
a calculator with print large enough to read (and no. a pc's calculator is not the same.). You should have a snack and a drink accessible so that you don't get up from watching the markets. Microphone, webcam, good set of speakers, etc.
A calculator with 10 or 12 digits, because sometimes when you're punching in share counts or bushels of grain - or your net worth after joining EliteTrader -you really want to see the billions without having to remember, "did I drop three zeroes or six on that last input..." You'll see a spiral bound notebook on the desk of many traders. Some use it as a trade log, to record an observation about what caused unusual market activity, or as a journal (this worked, this didn't, my wife left me today, this is my day-end net), whatever. Get a few, you'll use them. I'm a fan of index cards over post-it notes to scribble down some things I need to remember - what I might want to get into, things I need to get out of and so on. And if you believe one guy on this site, you should get a big bowl or a bucket (but not your family's popcorn bowl!) because one day instead of getting up and going to the bathroom during a busy market period, he stayed at his desk and shit his pants.
You should read through the dang 100 pages of the pinned thread: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43661 Pictures of your trading stations. Any idea under the sun has already been posted, debated, and forgotten.
The thread you posted is about trading stations, this one is not only about trading stations, it's about all the trading desk commodities and furnitures(Stapler, post it, calculator, printer, etc etc).
LMFAO, hahaha! You are so funny! It's not advices i want for me only, but for all the people on the forum. And you know, you can forget you need a stapler man...
