Good afternoon, I have been trading Stocks on the IB platform for quite some time, I am just trying to get organised to trade the ASX200.
My understanding is that I want to trade the ASX200 CFD - which I believe the IB code for is IBAU200.
My permissions are setup to allow for trading of "Stock & Index CFDs" - but it is a cash account.
From the research I have done so far - I believe I have determined the following:
    - Australians can trade CFDs
    - They cannot trade CFDs on margin

    Is this accurate?

Further - I use TradingView for charting - I am trying to find the associated chart for the IBAU200 CFD - what am I missing here?

    Australians can trade CFDs.
Australians can still trade CFDs on margin.
Changes to regulations aren't in place yet. ASIC's proposed margin limit is 10:1.
IB data is not accessible through TradingView AFAIK.
Australian 200 Index is available through Oanda - https://www.tradingview.com/chart/?symbol=OANDA:AU200AUD

    Why not trade an ETF?
I would not suggest trading CFD's.

Is the ETF good for daytraders? CFD is perfect for the high risk daytraders imo.

Maybe if you hold overnight ETF, they seem to gap frequently on open.
