So far so good....I am few days into working with the tradier API. Would like to start this thread under programming. Please post any experiences.
I was able to complete developing a simple back testing windows app for myself. And....IT ACTUALLY WORKS!. I get all the data including real time market data from the tradier API. Fun Project.
one of the worst websites, no pricing information, no information on which market data are available for subscription, which markets are covered, which asset classes, where market data for OTC assets (FX,...) originate from, nothing. Poor. Another wannabe platform by some startup that seems to overpromise and underdeliver. Skipped.
Get off your iPhone and try it on a real computer. The information is there. forex? Are you serious? That's hobby trading in the States.
You don't get it. Notice this thread is under the programming section. You are looking for another IBKR. The great thing about this broker is that they are playing on one of the few deficiencies of IBKR, which is the openness and usability of their platform. Do you think they are a "me too" tech firm? They are not. This is a broker. You have tech firms (me too, wannabe, or whatever) rallying around this new broker because they have an open distribution channel. Am I a marketing expert or tech guru, definitely not. But, this broker is definitely in a space that's underserved by IBKR. Would I algorithmically trade the bulk of my money in this broker? Heck no, KCG will rob me blind.
As a programmer, I can say that https://developer.tradier.com/documentation/ is easy to navigate and has the details. The API performance and response times are very good and consistent. Once you get authenticated its really a cake walk.
you talk too much about too unrelated issues. The issue here is an API and nobody can glean from there website which content they actually intent to serve through their API. Also, in case you have not had much exposure to algorithmic trading, REST APIs are anything but optimal to serve financial data. Enough said.
Thata bollocks: Here is what is incredibly important but missing or mentioned but severely limits serious usage of this api: a) No mentioning of which markets are covered, which asset classes, which data sources are perused for OTC assets b) No details about latencies, performance, no information about whether quotes are timestamped down to the millisecond or any other grade c) Limited examples, other than JAVA no other important OOP language is covered d) severe limitations through quote request throttling. e) no mentioning about pricing and whether data services can be subscribed to as a segregated package from the broker or not. Come back when you have implemented the absolute bare necessities to market your product to serious clients, I assume you and another user are obvious shills for this company. I repeat, so far one of the MOST RIDICULOUS and MOST POORLY outlayed algorithmic data and trading services websites I have come across.
