Local officials in rural England rejected as “incredibly stupid” a proposal by a group of high-speed traders to build radio masts as tall as the Eiffel Tower, dashing plans to open the fastest possible trading route between financial markets in London and Frankfurt. “In 26 years as a councilor, this is the worst application I have ever seen,” said Bernard Butcher, the vice chairman of the planning committee in his response to Vigilant’s application. “This particular proposal is just unsightly, it’s too incredibly stupid for us to even contemplate. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...an-for-faster-network-is-thwarted-by-u-k-town
Article does not say how many milli seconds faster? Distance between the two cities is about 2 light milliseconds. Current fibre technology is 2/3 of light speed. So my guess is 1 millisecond faster than fibre anyway. But there could be an existing radio mast route that is faster than fibre, but a bit slower than the planned one. In which case this is all being done to save micro seconds
