I had heard Tradezero is a good broker for shorting . Do they allow stocks of any price to be shorted as long as its not otc or pinks? And how is their executions speed ? Thank you for any info
And im sorry but I think Im talking with an idiot at TradeZero. He is saying that I dont need any additional funds left in my account to short a stock. For ex, if I wanted to short a stock a $3 for 1000 shares , he is saying all I need in my account is just $3000. Is this true ? There isnt a % of the total value holding that I need ? Thank you again for any help
No it was just an example. I always though that brokers would require a certain % of the total value of your holdings just in case something happened. Like as the example above if I was to short 1000 shares of a $3 stock then I would need to have 3000$ + 10% in my account ..
You can short all stocks above $1. The commissions are free to trade stocks above $1. We have a patent pending innovation on our short locator product, and have won the Best Broker for Short Selling at the Benzinga Fintech awards in 2020 and 2021. We would love to have you.
It's broker dependant. At IB they will publish initial and maintenance margin which is mostly under 100% for >10$ highly liquid stocks. Its actually the only broker I found that makes that info available for non clients. They have publically available sftp server with full sortable list. Can't comment on TradeZero.
"4x average charged locate rate for 1st night, additional days charged at 1x average charged locate rate." https://us.tradezero.co/pricing That's expensive.
What are your margin requirements on stocks? For ex: $3 stock at 1000 shares. I would need more than $3000 to short this am I correct? Due to the margin requirements
