Trade Analysis

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by traderpete, Feb 6, 2012.

  1. Hi,

Is there *free* software or at least *low cost* software available for trade analysis?

Basically, I'd like to be able to look back at my trades broken down into long/short; hour of day; etc - pretty much what I was getting from ninjatrader, which I had been using for paper trading.

Since I only recently started live trading, I don't want to purchase a NT subscription until I can prove to myself the ability to cover the cost.

I'm using IB as my broker, and using their trader workstation platform for trading the ES and YM. They send be an activity statement with all of my trades each day so I suppose I would have to load those trades into some sort of software.

I could try coming up with my own excel worksheet but it seems like it would a lot of work, and perhaps there is some pre-made software out there? Does anyone know of such a thing? I found commercial software called My Trade Analyzer that does what I need, but it costs about $200. Any other options? Thanks,

    Peter

  2. If you cannot part with $200 to buy software needed for your trading quit now that is early. My advice. :)

  3. Maybe $200 isn't a lot of money to you, but I'm not going to part with it unless I have to. I never said that I *needed* this software. It would be helpful, but it is not necessary.

I am just looking for software that will allow me to review my trades for the day. I'm surprised that the IB TWS does not have it since it seems like it wouldn't be that difficult to create. I may have to give a shot at creating my own via the IB API with Excel.

Anyway, I guess if someone had already written it, there would be no reason to share it for free.

That's kind of a funny thing about discussing trading on a forum like elite trader. On the one hand, internet forums are great for sharing information, and on the other hand, why would anyone share information for free when the whole point of trading is to make money? Conundrum...

Where can I find information on your software?

I like to do diagonal spreads buying a long call six months out and then selling front month calls against the position and I need a program that will keep track of that and calculatae the cost basis.

    Hi Burton52

Go to www.rapadashboard.com and download the file there. I also trade options and I find it excellent for my tracking of position PnL but more importantly the exposure of my overall account.

    Good luck

    Mickson:)
