After having stepped away from trading for the better part of the last 2 years, I've decided to get back into it with what I'll call the crumb strategy. Simple rules: stick to the half dozen stocks I'm very familiar with, wait for a drop to enter with significant size (30%+), then exit after 1-2% gain, usually the same day. A sudden reversal (haven't had one yet) triggers a sell at 1-2%. No shorting. The purpose of this exercise is to regain confidence of my judgement, which I sum up as educated guesses. These are stocks I've been following for almost 6 years, both in news and charts. It's only been a month.
