Would like to hear your thoughts re daytrading, mine are:

    - best days of week are tue wed thur, worst are mon fri

    - best times of day are 9:35-11 and 3:30-4; also occasional midday reversals if market rallied or sold off all morning

Best market days are out days, S&P above prior day's high or below prior day's low

    Ideas? Thx

For me and I am primarily on the futures side, the mornings, with about 50% of the time including premarket from about 0630. In the past year I have been fully shut down from futures trading by 1430 at the latest, and more often 1400. From roughly 1230 until I shut down, I am either in a trade from earlier or maybe take 1 or 2 more. Afternoons have never been that good for me, and I decided to do more stock and option study instead of battling. Some of that has been debating getting into bitcoin or Ethereum, I didn't, kick me in the ass!
For the past couple months I have been opening the platform in the evening and taking the occasional NQ trade when a setup is there. It has worked well to this point.

Although I don't day trade, I find the best time is when I get the set-up that I've planned to trade.

  5. There is no best day, or best time, to trade. The entire trading week/day, from market open to close, is what I consider the best time.

You never know when or how the market for that given day will behave and react, so you have to be objective, calm, neutral, and open-minded and patient...to make that judgement call of when is the best moment to strike to buy, and kill to close.

It's kind of absurd when I hear people say you need to trade within the first hour, and close within noon...or some stuff like that.

Before the market opens, I establish a loose, general, set of assumptions and conditions and variables...then I wait for what I perceive is that moment to strike to buy. That Timing, inflection point, is absolutely key and crucial to realize and capture within a trade -- and vice versa, likewise, to make that similar judgement call of when to close the position.

Good points.... right re trading anytime is fine if the trading setup fits your rules..... though I do lighter size if not a tu wed thur am time.

For example I did a winning SPRT daytrade early today, and have a handful of small 200-300 share trades set to fill in TZA UVXY if they pivot up this afternoon.

Thx ddog re focusing on rules, you're right

  7. Hello Ken,

Personally, I don't enter new orders during the last hour of trading.

Thinking of an additional perspective, why not "best times of the year"?

This is my personal calendar for 2021. "Good Friday" is different, year from year. This allows me to plan vacations a year in advance (saving a lot of money)...

    HOLIDAYS (2021):
-MLK Day: Friday, January 15th through Monday, January 18th (4-Day Weekend).
-President's Day: Friday, February 12th through Monday, February 15th (4-Day Weekend).
-Good Friday: Thursday, April 1st through Sunday, April 4th (4-Day Weekend).*
-Memorial Day: Friday, May 28th through Monday, May 31st (4-Day Weekend).
-Fourth of July: Thursday, July 1st through Monday, July 5th (5-Day Weekend).
-August Break: Friday, August 6th through Monday, September 6th (4-Week+ Vacation!!!).
-Thanksgiving: Friday, November 19th through Sunday, November 28th (10-Day Vacation).
-Christmas Holidays: Friday, December 17th through Sunday, January 2nd (2-Week+ Vacation!!!).

Yep, I am on vacation :)

You are SUCH a liar. Even though you list August as your vacation month, you and I both know you are a market whore, and are still watching charts. So you are not truly on vacation. Admit your addiction. It is the first step to recovery, lol.
