I dislike politics tremendously, but it's something we have to put up with. I don't play biotech stocks so I have no opinion about them. Regarding medicare for all would not work and eventually be disbanded just like Obama Care. There are not enough physicians in our country to handle medicare for all, and even though the health insurance industry in this country has numerous shortcomings you still need it. I turned 65 this year and I still pay 3 health insurance premiums, one for medicare Part B, a Supplement G, and a RX Part D plan. This alone shows how much these politicians are out of touch with reality!
All points aside, regardless of whether I agree or not, it's all a matter of perception. If the market thinks Bernie will be the nominee, it'll likely spook all that money away until after election night. This was the case last election...come to think of it, I'm not even sure why I'm second guessing it. Might need to exit those positions tomorrow.
If you're worried about price controls, yes, the health insurers would be in trouble. The bigger problem, which directly feed the (high)cost issue, are pharmacy benefit managers. Price controls (hopefully not!) aside, PBMs, in their current structure, will be targeted in effort to lower cost. The problem is that the major insurers all own PBMs. United Health has OptimumRX Anthem has IngenioRx, Aetna has Caremark, Cigna has Express Scripts.
Bernie will not be the nominee because the establishment doesn't want him. Just like 2016. The establishment including John Kerry supports Biden.
Ironically, the market in general and these stocks in particular should respond well to a Bernie nomination. The market believes he cannot win.
This is absurd! How do you imagine life without biotechnology? Much depends on new inventions these days, especially in the field of biotechnology. It is thanks to biotechnology that new discoveries in the field of medicine have been made, new methods of treating various diseases have been invented. The rejection of biotechnology will take humanity several centuries ago. As for health insurance, it has its drawbacks, but it is still necessary for a person. For example, I am renewing my medicare at https://www.remedigap.com/companies/mutual-of-omaha-medicare-supplement/. It gives me a Household discount and has a very smart and handy app.
