I have been tweaking the numbers over a short period of time, about a week, but I can't seem to tune in the NQ tick chart to be similar to the 2000 tick chart for the ES. What are some recommendations, please. I would appreciate your help. Thanks, much.
I doubt any professional traders use tick charts. I use volume charts. futures - big volume, small volume ES - 4500V, 300V NQ - 1500V, 120V big volume chart mainly for the Asian and European trading sessions small volume chart mainly for the US session I also have mid volume charts.
What are you trying to accomplish? As soon as you tweak it to somewhat synch up, volatility on one or the other - likely both but not equally - will knock it back out of whack
correction : small volume chart mainly for the Asian and European trading sessions big volume chart mainly for the US session
look at the time chart, they move together most of the time. i have a work space just for these two, two dom next to each other. when jump, place market order for both
I do. I have a friend who swears by the tick chart though and wanted to watch. He trades ES and I trade NQ. So I was just trying to set up a chart next to my time charts that I could also watch to see if I like it. But comparing the my ES chart with his tick, it seems to bounce well off 21 ema and 20 sma and vwap. I am not seeing it correlate as well with the NQ and just keep tweaking the parameters. But....if many don't use it, then so be it.
I have been using TICK Charts since 2013, successfully. However, for some reason, in July & August, they simply do not work. In fact, I have gotten my ass kicked so badly, that I now take those two months off. It only took 3.5 years to realize that. My hypothesis is that the big whales are vacationing in the south of France. You know, the ones that create the oscillations, and "feed us". I respect your input, and I will be looking into Volume Charts. Thanks. PS. If you use TICK Charts to trade stock index futures, AVOID JULY/AUGUST like the plague. It will simply not work out...
