Thug uses Breonna Taylor as human shield- Cops defend themselves

Breonna Taylors criminal/ drug dealer boyfriends shoots at cops while cops serve a valid search warrant. Cops had a no knock warrant but they still knocked and announced they were cops which they didnt have to do.
Breonna’s criminal boyfriend starts shooting at cops first and basically uses Breonna as a human shield. The cops obviously shoot back in self defense and Breonna gets shot during the exchange. Thats Breonna’s criminal boyfriends fault.
Leave the cops alone, they did the right thing by shooting back. Why did the thug use Breonna as a human shield?
