CIA director's warning to Trump falls flat: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/trump-cia-press-corps-1.3936917 In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Brennan questioned the message sent to the world if the president-elect broadcasts that he does not have confidence in the United States' own intelligence agencies. "What I do find outrageous is equating intelligence community with Nazi Germany," Brennan said. "I do take great umbrage at that." ________________________________________ Trump, using Taiwan as bargaining chip, sparks outcry in China http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...arks-furious-outcry-in-china/article33631217/ But the moderate language of China’s official rhetoric is increasingly at odds with its own foreign policy, military and media communities, which have grown more outspoken in demanding a harsh rebuke to the U.S. as Mr. Trump prepares to take office. Some are pushing for China to expand its nuclear arsenal. Others are openly discussing a trade war with the U.S. and military takeover of Taiwan. ________________________________________ Trump threatens German car makers with 35% U.S. import tariff http://www.theglobeandmail.com/repo...-tax-on-cars-built-in-mexico/article33628676/ While investing in Mexico, German carmakers have quadrupled light vehicle production in the United States over the past seven years to 850,000 units, more than half of which are exported from there, Germany’s VDA automotive industry association said. “In the long term, the United States would be shooting itself in the foot by imposing tariffs or other trade barriers,” VDA President Matthias Wissmann said in a statement... ...Norbert Roettgen, head of Germany’s foreign affairs committee, said Berlin needed to take Trump’s comments seriously. “He seems to be absolutely focused on short-term job interests and security interests ... not that he is looking for free trade so much, but more for protection,” he told Reuters... ...“It is surprising that Trump singles out the carmaker that exports more vehicles from the United States than any other manufacturer,” Evercore ISI analysts said... (and now for a chuckle) ...Trump called Germany a great car producer, saying Mercedes-Benz cars were a frequent sight in New York, but claimed there was not enough reciprocity. Germans were not buying Chevrolets at the same rate, he said, calling the business relationship an unfair one-way street. Chevrolet sales have fallen sharply in Europe since parent company General Motors in 2013 said it would drop the Chevrolet brand in Europe by the end of 2015. Since then, GM has focused instead on promoting its Opel and Vauxhall marques.
How could Trump have any confidence in an agency that told Bush to invade Iraq because they had weapons of mass destruction? Or maybe they just lied to Bush? You explain it.
Or maybe Bush just lied to you: http://www.businessinsider.com/here...intelligence-assessment-on-wmd-in-iraq-2015-3 https://news.vice.com/article/the-c...t-that-supposedly-justified-the-iraq-invasion Thirteen years ago, the intelligence community concluded in a 93-page classified document used to justify the invasion of Iraq that it lacked "specific information" on "many key aspects" of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction (WMD) programs. But that's not what top Bush administration officials said during their campaign to sell the war to the American public. Those officials, citing the same classified document, asserted with no uncertainty that Iraq was actively pursuing nuclear weapons, concealing a vast chemical and biological weapons arsenal, and posing an immediate and grave threat to US national security. Congress eventually concluded that the Bush administration had "overstated" its dire warnings about the Iraqi threat, and that the administration's claims about Iraq's WMD program were "not supported by the underlying intelligence reporting." But that underlying intelligence reporting — contained in the so-called National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) that was used to justify the invasion — has remained shrouded in mystery until now.
Don't mind that idiot . . . he has everything 'ass about face' , he thinks an agency instructs the President on what to do. He once even said that people don't respect what Hitler did to the Jews, imagine that.
In the Year of the Rooster, China's leadership sizes up Trump: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/in-the-year-of-the-rooster-china-s-leadership-sizes-up-trump-1.3941265
Is anyone ready to accept the truth about the wmd and who lied? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_and_weapons_of_mass_destruction The Bush admin said there were wmd and a program in Iraq to make more. The left has said infinitum that there were no wmd's in Iraq. Both were wrong. There were wmd, but there was no program discovered to make more of them. When the NYTimes revealed that there were, after all, wmd's in Iraq, the left made the absurd claim that those were just old ones, and there were no new ones, as if old wmd's aren't dangerous or something. And then pretended, once again, ridiculously, that they were vindicated.
Sadly, I do believe that our Intel agencies have been terribly corrupted, especially and specifically at the leadership positions. The grunts in the field are doing their level best, but as per usual, the "bosses' have their personal agenda. Unfortunately this is not a problem easily solved. It's not like you can just go in and give'em all pink slips. They know all the dirty secrets and where the bodies are buried, and they have already demonstrated they care nothing about national security. They'll happily burn down the house just to get even. Things are going to be dicey moving forward. Dangerous world out there and we're not even close to ready for modern day warfare.
Did you actually read the articles on the declassified CIA document I linked, or are you just giving me boilerplate?
You interjected in an exchange between FortuneTeller and me. My post to him was in direct response to his post. Yours is generic and not directed at the point of contention. Are you trying to contribute to that conversation or start a new one?
