‘Embarrassing’: Trump’s endorsement rejected by Republicans in ‘landslide’ defeat for seat once held by his chief of staff Voters in North Carolina went to the polls on Tuesday for a special election to fill the vacancy created when Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) resigned from Congress to serve as Trump’s chief of staff. Trump had repeatedly urged his supporters to back Lynda Bennett in the race for North Carolina’s 11th congressional district. But voters decided not to go along with Trump’s wishes. “A 24-year-old motivational speaker has defeated the Republican candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in a GOP runoff for Meadows’ old congressional seat, according to unofficial results,” the Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday evening. “Madison Cawthorn defeated Lynda Bennett in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District in far-western North Carolina. He was leading with 65% of the vote with nearly all of precincts reporting. The Associated Press called the race in Cawthorn’s favor at 8:47 p.m.”
Congratulations to Madison Cawthorn. He is just the type of young blood that the Republican Party needs. I will vote for Trump but Trump seems to be endorsing female candidates in certain races that just don't seem to have the chops for the job. His endorsement of a female for Senator in Georgia is another example of misguided intentions. Here is a little more information on Madison - https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tr...-race-to-fill-congressional-seat-meadows-held He is the type of candidate, that at least for me, has restored a little more faith in the future of this country. Beat the shit out of Moe, Madison.
Can someone explain to me how a 24 year old has any idea what the real world is? The guy has barely been able to drink for more than 3 years. The brain doesn't even fully develop before 25! Look I'm all for bringing in new younger people to stop Washington from being a geriatric daycare but 24 is a little too young IMO.
I dont know the particulars of that district he could be highly favored to win if its a red district.Getting on the Trump train will hurt him badly in the future when he runs for state wide office
