"This Home Guarded By Smith and Wesson"

  1. Clever fellow I sometimes think myself to be, I've considered posting a sign by my driveway...

"This home guarded by entry sensors and infrared when we're gone.
Guarded by Smith and Wesson when we're not."

Just as open carry of a handgun in the city might either discourage or encourage trouble, I've considered such a sign might do the same.

  2. I wouldn't. You might attract people trying to steal guns.

  3. What if I said, "guarded by Hi-Point".... would they want to steal those?
    :)

  4. Just post a No trespassing sign that says,
    Life is short.
Unlawful entry will make it shorter.

  5. I wouldn't want to call attention to myself that way. If you do end up shooting an intruder, you don't want the cops and prosecutor having any reason to think you might have been overly trigger happy.

Best if you live in a nice neighborhood surrounded by other nice neighborhoods, then you're not a target.

This is the sign I have in my front yard. It has cut down dramatically on solicitors.

  8. I like it. Where to get such a sign?

  10. I believe petty criminals are like teenagers - always testing the boundaries to see what they get away with. If you invite them to test the boundary, they will. Their ego convinces them they are smart, while the rest of us know they aren't. Stupidity has a high threshold to overcome, and petty criminals can't resist the urge to prove it.

Your sign is catnip (or meth or crack) for Darwin Award candidates...
