Is Thinkorswim future trading any good?
I am thinking about trading futures now so that I dont have to worry about the daytrading rule with stocks. Does anyone trade futures with TOS or what is a good futures broker and software? Thanks.

  2. You need 15k for intraday margins. Commissions are 3.50 a side.
Data is not bad. Nothing like Zen Fire but not bad.

  3. you can get lower commissions all you need to do just ask for it.

I sent Mike a pm, but since you posted this I just wanted to add a little clarity.
The posted commissions are negotiable, I currently pay less than IB charges, but you have to trade enough to be able to negotiate.
I would prefer that the quote feed was true tick, but their feed (like IB) does have some advantages when things get really crazy. I had Ninja with Zenfire up next to the TOS feed and several times over that last few weeks the Zenfire feed fell behind trying to keep up with every tick while the TOS feed was fine.

If you ask them, do you think that they will lower the intraday margin limit?

  6. I asked and they told me no for the intraday with less than 15K

Here is what they said about commish.

"We can lower your Futures commissions based on the volume you trade, to $3.00 if you trade 200 contracts per month, 2.50 if you trade 500 contracts per month and $2.00 if you trade 1000 contracts per month."

How much money shy of the 15k did you tell them? I will try and tell them a out 7k or I will move my money out to a different broker that will give a lower intraday margin

  8. 5k

Ok, I will try working on them and see what they will offer. Their daytrading margins for 15k are still 1k, but I will see what the say. Or maybe cry to get our way.

  10. Let me know what happens. I like Mirus futures for daytrading.
