Trump Organization must turn over documents to NY attorney general, judge rules

(CNN)A state judge ruled Tuesday that the Trump Organization must turn over documents related to a property whose tax abatements were being investigated by New York Attorney General Letitia James' office.

The Trump Organization previously claimed the documents were protected by attorney-client privilege.

Amy Carlin, an attorney for the Trump Organization, argued Tuesday that the Trump organization had "every expectation that those communications would be confidential," regarding discussions about a property in Westchester County involving an engineer.

The attorney general's office argued that the documents were not privileged, in part, because the Trump Organization had "waived privilege" when it disclosed certain documents to the IRS to "gain benefit," said attorney Eric Haren with the attorney general's office.

Haren said that "literally everything other than the final appraisal value" was not disclosed to his office.

James' office has been investigating President Donald Trump and the Trump Organization since 2019, when Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen testified before Congress that Trump's annual financial statements inflated the values of his assets in order to secure favorable loans and insurance coverage, but deflated the value of other assets in order to reduce real estate taxes.

Haren argued Tuesday that refusal to release those documents has "delayed" the attorney general's ability to investigate.

New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron made the ruling after arguments were conducted remotely Tuesday. Engoron previously ruled that the documents were privileged.

That shit will get dismissed. Trump is untouchable, because too many people are donating to his "defense fund".

He may not be able to spend that money the way he wishes. I just ran through possibilities with a friend who actually used to work for the mayor of building 7 and she thinks Donny may have have too many violations. Money can do a lot but NYC hates his ass.

This subway scene which scared the poop poop out of me as a kid comes to mind, it seemed just too much, too long and unfair. I'm just hoping little Donathy just gets crushed by the pillars at the end this time.

Well they initially offered the part of scarecrow played by Michael Jackson to Jimmie "Dy-no-mite" Walker but he turned it down as he wanted to star in the parody version with Donniethe years later.

Trump Organization Hires Criminal Defense Lawyer
Ronald Fischetti will represent the firm in Manhattan district attorney’s probe into former president’s business dealings

The Trump Organization has hired Ronald Fischetti, an experienced New York criminal-defense attorney, to represent it in Manhattan prosecutors’ investigation into the business dealings of the former president and his company.

Mr. Fischetti, 84 years old, is a former law partner of Mark Pomerantz, the former federal prosecutor working on the investigation for the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. Mr. Pomerantz was sworn in as a special assistant district attorney in February and is now on leave from law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

“I am so pleased that Ron has been added to the team,” said Alan Futerfas, a lawyer for the Trump Organization. “He brings extraordinary experience, a depth of knowledge and wisdom that is invaluable and that we so appreciate.”

The Trump Organization retained Mr. Fischetti earlier this week, Mr. Fischetti confirmed. “I’m delighted that I’m going to be on the defense of this,” he said.

Mr. Vance’s office has said it is investigating possible bank, tax or insurance fraud. Prosecutors have subpoenaed information from former President Donald Trump’s banks, lenders, an insurance broker and other parties, The Wall Street Journal has previously reported. They are examining financial transactions at Manhattan properties including Mr. Trump’s flagship Trump Tower; Seven Springs, an estate in Westchester, N.Y.; and a hotel in Chicago, The Journal reported.

Manhattan district attorney seizes evidence from Trump executive’s former daughter-in-law

NEW YORK — Investigators from the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, acting on a grand jury subpoena, took possession of financial records Thursday morning from the apartment of Jennifer Weisselberg, the former daughter-in-law of a top Trump Organization officer.
    .
Jennifer Weisselberg was married to Barry Weisselberg — the son of Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg — from 2004 to 2018. She has previously said that she had seven boxes of financial records from both her ex-husband and his father, some of which were obtained through divorce litigation. On Thursday, she loaded three boxes and a laptop computer onto a valet cart and wheeled them from her building to a black Jeep with dark-tinted windows that was waiting outside.
