The propaganda continues, this lady is claiming that if someone offered her a million dollars to go in the ocean, she wouldnt. What a load of shit. Coronavirus at beaches? Surfers, swimmers should stay away, scientist says https://www.yahoo.com/news/coronavirus-california-beaches-one-scientist-140029412.html Kim Prather, a leading atmospheric chemist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, wants to yell out her window at every surfer, runner, and biker she spots along the San Diego coast. “I wouldn't go in the water if you paid me $1 million right now,” she said. The beach, in her estimation, is one of the most dangerous places to be these days, as the novel coronavirus marches silently across California. Many beachgoers know they can suffer skin rashes, stomach illness and serious ear and respiratory infections if they go into the water within three days of a heavy rain, because of bacteria and pathogens washing off roads and into the ocean. Raw or poorly treated sewage entering the ocean also poses major health risks. Prather fears that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, could enter coastal waters in similar ways and transfer back into the air along the coast. In her research, Prather has found that the ocean churns up all kinds of particulate and microscopic pathogens, and every time the ocean sneezes with a big wave or two, it sprays these particles into the air. She believes that this new coronavirus is light enough to float through the air much farther than we think. The six-feet physical distancing rule, she said, doesn't apply at the beach, where coastal winds can get quite strong and send viral particles soaring. “It's not going to kill you if you miss a few surfing sessions, but it could if you go out there and get in the wrong air," she said. “You can't see the virus, you can't smell it ... It's a real silent killer right now.”
Maybe California should get that word out to the homeless camps: It's not going to kill you if you miss a few surfing lessons." Oh, and if you "paid her a million dollars" to go in the water her sorry arse would be in the water in a New York second. Her lefty brain stem is totally wired to respond to free stuff.
Utter BS of course, I do not have to guess she is a deranged extreme liberal with Trump Derangement Syndrome. The sun's rays kill viruses and germs with its heat. Social distancing is more important. With a national emergency before us, all extreme liberals can do is spread lies and disinformation. They do not care that lives are being lost each day and instead, of doing good, they engage in crap? Can't wait for karma to come and collect from these vile individuals as well as our resident ET trolls.
Yeh but that pastor is not being paid with public tax dollars as the loon in California is, as part of the university system, grants etc.
1. my first question is will be you be surfing near a storm drain that is getting water running through it for the first time in the seaons. 2. second question... If you are going to surfing near sewage outflows... has the sewage treated with chlorine and other treatments? If so... could Covid survive the treatment. How hard would that be to test. I think i would avoid surfing near tijuana an their drainage routes. But, San Diego should be able to tell us is Covid getting into the ocean is really a risk. Its been rain on an off for months... By now... I would expect anything but say a bay area like Tourmaline to be pretty safe withing hours after a light rain. And we don't even have to guess. They use to test the water... they probably still do.
So she is saying (the bits she said) that the coronavirus can travel much further at the beach from respitarion and sneezing etc. So the six feet rule is not a safe distancing guideline there on the beaches packed with runners and walkers etc. Sewage might make an aerosol but this does not seem a primary worry. Sounds sensible enough, depends on how busy the beaches are. We now have a bunch of small lawn flags in the gardens at the hospice, people out smoking or relaxing are asked to not stand upwind of others, same reason, micro droplets go straight through normal masks. Everyone is high risk of course. Bioaerosols, better cautious than dying of suffocation with only family on WhatsApp until you can't lift the phone and die with nobody.
