I've been trading with stock options for about 5 years and I tried several brokers trying to find the best execution for low liquid options But InteractiveBrokers is the worst experience I ever had. I opened account two monthes ago and deposited a minimal amount for testing platform and execution. And since then everything gone wrong... First of all, they restricted my account without ANY reason. After a several tickets, calling and chating they hadn't helped and explained nothing at all. They said to wait for a while... After a month i realized that it meaningless to wait for a several monthes and it easier to just choose another broker if their customer and compliance service are so bad. But my first attempt to withdraw was expired after a two weeks. I also tried to contact and write them but it was useless and i recieved no answer. Last week I created another withdrawal and it still pending like the previous one and customer service tell me to wait every couple of days and is still nothing. Likely, it was a small amount but I want to aware traders to not doing a business with this broker because they have no support at all and you can wait for monthes untill you recieve any response Sorry for my english and best wishes with trading at a good broker I can provide any screenshots and account number to confirm.
• "several" brokers in 5 years? • low-liquidity options? • deposit of "minimal" amount? As a trader via IB/TWS for 14 years, I am grateful for their ability to spot trouble.
I've been with IB for 12 years. Although nothing is perfect, I have nothing to complain. But I DON'T trade low-liquid options with a 'minimal' account...
Sorry you had a poor experience. I've been thankful for IB in my time. Professional type of broker for us retail folks; but trading liquid names. Not perfect but perfect does not exist.
Rule number 1 - don't complain. Be smart and let other people do the complaining. Let other people do the life-shortening thing. Rule number 2 - always have multiple trading accounts. Every broker has its own merits/demerits. There is absolutely no ideal / perfect broker.
They are not that bad, IMHO. Since I use Linux instead of one of the kindergarten operating systems, I really don't have much choice for platforms except TWS, ToS, or webware. Customer service hasn't been too bad. I do wish they would get it together with TradingView so I would be able to trade right from my charts, cause I like TV charts much better than TWS charts, but that's just something I guess I will have to live without.
It isn't complain but aware to be cautios with them. Seems like an IB Customer Service post. I have a several accounts at different brokers for different goals. One has the fastest execution, another has a low commission or can execute complex option strategy. And for a good reason I never deposit account at new broker with a large amount. And IB confirmed my fears. I had similar issues with other brokers but always they resolved them very quickly (on the same day) after a brief explanation my strategy with low liquid options and unusual activity Hope it will help for traders like me. Support at InteractiveBrokers is rubbush
