The mercenary who botched a coup:Jordan Goudreau, a former U.S. Army Green Beret, is now the head of a Florida security firm called Silvercorp USA. In 2019, he signed a contract to carry out a coup in Venezuela by capturing Nicolás Maduro’s “criminal organization” and restoring democracy. But Goudreau’s plan to heist an entire country backfired in a really terrible way.(Bloomberg)

Always bugs me when Americans high on their perceived superiority go into places with hardened revolutionaries or anti-insurgents thinking they "got this". Reminds me of Cortez and his muskets against the Aztecs.

  5. Or they are foolish to think the backers will not walk away and feign ingornace when it fails leaving the mercs high and dry on a beach somewhere getting gunned down.
