    Hi People,

I'm just getting started in trading haven't turned profitable, and have observed that most of the successful day traders, those who actually make a living off their trades have had experience working for brokerage firms, investments bankers, etc, and have go on to trade on their own. How important is professional trading experience to becoming a profitable day trader, and how many of you have worked for brokerage firms etc?

I worked at a Bulge Bracket firm for over 10 Years as a salestrader. The only thing I learned is what to look for in major news releases and how to read the tape and charts. Nothing you can not learn on your own.

Most will agree it is a totally different ball of wax trading one's own dough vs. trading the firm's or executing customer's orders.

Of course I did get paid a fat salary and drank a lot of expensive wine!
