The future of computing comes from China: RISC-V CPUs Take a look at these RISC-V CPU and mainboard details: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/starfive/visionfive-2?lang=en IMO very impressive, especially for that price! An interesting detailed news article about the above crowdfunding project in German language: https://www.computerbase.de/2022-08/starfive-visionfive-2-risc-v-3d-gpu-linux/ Here's a comparable English news article: https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/08/23/starfive-visionfive-2-quad-core-risc-v-sbc-linux/ RISC-V companies to invest in: StarFive (info), SiFive, ... Currently mostly private start-up companies financing their products via crowdfunding etc, but expect IPOs soon... RISC-V will kill ARM, and maybe even x86 as well... Just IMHO
Nope, I'm totally new to RISC-V. But I just 'feel' it's the next hot thing to come in the computer world. I have been a DIY maker guy in the past, ie. playing with such SBCs. I would be interested to play with this new one too, but I'm now a fulltime trader, don't have much time for anything else... Regarding investment in RISC-V: yes, I will, but haven't decided yet. Investing in a listed company is much easier, but these did not have their IPOs yet, so investing is not that simple, IMHO. By investing I of course mean real investment, not just supporting the company to help them. I mean I of course want a ROI from doing such an investment... I haven't figured out yet how to do it with such star-ups w/o having any public shares to buy... And I'm just a small investor with only very small funds at the moment... Same problem I had in the past with investing in wise.com . I know it's a good company to invest but they are still just a private company... :-( Such private companies seem to like investments by some few big investors, not by some many small investors...
I am not a cpu person. Do not understand why you think it is better than amd or other gpu. What is the tech barrier for amd not able to do it? At least amd cpu is much faster. RISC is copied from sgi which I used when in univ. sgi is dead
It's not the technical issue, but more the "political" issue: RISC-V is open source, so CPU maker companies don't need to pay licenses/royalties to use it in their own developments of CPUs. And on top of this comes the US sanctions against China. Meaning: such an open source-environment is very welcome in China as it cannot be sanctioned that easily. And there are many Chinese companies interested in creating CPUs based on such a royalty-free architecture, and much more who want to use such products... Ie. many good things come together in such a constellation... So, it can only be successful, IMO...
But this one already competes directly with ARM (most smartphones nowadays do use ARM CPUs), but both even can compete also with the big boys Intel and AMD... RISC-V just needs some few years to ripe, and then could overtake ARM sales...
The future of computing comes from China: RISC-V CPUs ---> The future of trading comes from super-fast charting software Charting software is the bottleneck !!! not computing !!!!!!
