RALEIGH, N.C. — Since the start of a months-long investigation into evidence of election fraud in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District, Republicans and Democrats have been as divided as they are across the country — disputing facts, accusing each other of political games, unable to agree. Then something unexpected happened in Raleigh this week. The State Board of Elections — three Democrats and two Republicans — voted unanimously to call for a new election. It might have been the first recorded instance of a federal election being thrown out over fraud. But it wasn’t the evidence of fraud that made it happen. It was a heart-wrenching drama between an evangelical minister, who badly wanted to serve in Congress, and his lawyer son, who came forward with evidence that contradicted his father’s testimony. Republicans and Democrats agreed that something went right compared with how partisan conflict often plays out in the country’s hyper-polarized political environment. But it almost didn’t, despite voluminous evidence that a political operative had led an illegal scheme to tamper with absentee ballots on behalf of Republican Mark Harris of Charlotte. And that worries those who see a massive threat to the integrity of elections in what happened in the 9th District — and believe it could easily happen again if nothing is done to prevent it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...a14d7fec96a_story.html?utm_term=.510dda252814
“Republican politicians across the country have for years railed against the threat of voter fraud. Some have made unproven claims about how rampant it has become in order to pass voter ID laws and open sweeping investigations. The sanctity of the vote, they have said, must be protected at all costs,” the New York Times reports. “But when a hard-fought congressional election in North Carolina — in which a Republican candidate appeared to narrowly beat his Democratic opponent — was overturned this week because of election fraud by a Republican political operative, the party was measured, and largely muted, in its response.”
Yet, for all the spin, it looks like there will be a new election and the Republicans agreed to it. Now here is the money shot question for the Radical Leftists: Are you ready to embrace election integrity laws now? No, because it would be racist, hurt the poor, and befuddle the stupid? Just as I thought. Try adding a little more flavor to your bulls**t next time. That way, your base may find it easier to swallow when it is shoved back into their face.
Fraudster won't run again. GOP Congressional Candidate At Center Of North Carolina Election Fraud Probe Says He Won’t Run Again The North Carolina Board of Elections ordered a new election last week, saying Harris’ November victory had been tainted by fraud. Republican Mark Harris, who appeared to win a congressional seat in North Carolina in November, announced Tuesday he would not be a candidate in a new congressional race after the board of elections found there was enough evidence of election fraud to hold a new contest. Harris, who led the November race by 905 votes, cited health concerns in his decision not to run again. He said he needs surgery soon, which would conflict with a new race. “Given my health situation, the need to regain full strength and the timing of this surgery the last week of March, I have decided not to file in the new election for Congressional District 9,” he said in a statement. “I owe it to Beth, my children and my six grandchildren to make the wisest decision for my health. I also owe it to the citizens of the Ninth District to have someone at full strength during the new campaign. It is my hope that in the upcoming primary, a solid conservative leader will emerge to articulate the critical issues that face our nation.” Harris’ opponent in the November race, Democrat Dan McCready, has already announced he will run again. Because of a law North Carolina Republicans passed last year, candidates in the contest must run in both a new primary and general election. The North Carolina Board of Elections has not yet set the dates for the new contest. While the North Carolina Board ordered a new election, there still could be criminal charges in the matter.
Said 29 minutes after the article was posted. Perhaps the person you are talking about is not a troll, has a life outside of blogging politics almost 24/7 unlike our ET Leftist trolls, and will get back to you the next time they log in. In the off chance you are referring to me, I say congrats, you may have found one example for your side versus the thousands that some say go the other way. Yes, I’m talking about the votes of dead people, non right restored felons, illegal alliens, historical “ballot stuffing” to the point where there were more votes in an Ohio district than residents, and the Lefts constant opposition to voter ID laws. Try again.
