It appears that the Bashar al-Assad regime may be heading for a fall. The events are proceeding rapidly as the militants advance, the Syrian army (and their allies) flee and Russia can no longer prop up the Syrian government.

Tick Tock. Time appears to be counting down to the end of the Assad regime... but we never should count him out. He's has come back from tough spots before with help from his friends, Russia and Iran -- but neither country is in a good place to help him right now. Damascus and Assad now in Syrian rebels' sights https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn0x169enp4o
After taking two key cities, Syrian rebels set their sights on Homs https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/12/06/israel-hamas-war-news-gaza-lebanon-syria/ Syrian rebels continued to makegains in the north of the country, as they put the central city of Homs in their sights on Friday. A day earlier, the Islamist group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, or HTS, gained control of Hama, Syria’s fourth-largest city, dealing another major blow to President Bashar al-Assad less than a week after his forces ceded Aleppo in the face of the lightning rebel advance. HTS said Friday it had captured two towns six miles north of Homs, Syria’s third-largest city and a strategic gateway to the capital, Damascus. HTS’s leader, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, told CNN in an interview published Friday that “the goal of the revolution remains the overthrow of this regime.” Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday appeared to praise the rebel forces. “The target, of course, is Damascus,” he said, local media reported. “Our wish is that this march in Syria continues without accidents or disasters.” The Turkish, Russian and Iranian foreign ministers are due to meet Saturday in the gulf state of Qatar, to discuss the situation in Syria, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said. Russia’s embassy in Damascus also urged its citizens to leave the country citing “the difficult military and political situation in Syria.” Iran-backed militia Hezbollah, which has previously lent significant support to Assad, sent a small number of “supervising forces” from Lebanon to Homs overnight, Reuters reported, citing senior Lebanese security officials. Overnight, the Israel Defense Forces said it had carried out strikes on “weapon-smuggling routes” near crossings at the Syrian-Lebanese border. The strikes were aimed at hindering the capabilities of Hezbollah’s armament unit responsible for transferring weapons “intended for carrying out terrorist plots” against Israel, said IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee on social media. The United Nations’ World Food Program estimated that more than 280,000 people have been displaced as a result of the “recent escalation in the northwest … adding to years of suffering,” it said, warning of a potential humanitarian crisis.
Yes... all of these nations (Israel, Turkey, etc.) are cheering on an ISIS equivalent to take out the Syrian government. In the wake of the Syrian government falling, you will likely see a Sunni terrorist state established in Syria with a lot of associated chaos. This type of change is not a good thing to the surrounding countries in the region IMO -- but Turkey, Israel and others view an Iran-backed Assad regime as being more detrimental than Sunni terrorists taking over Syria.
Turkey is one of the most outspoken critics of the genocide in Gazi,so you would think they would support Iran and Assad since Iran is Israels enemy.I guess since Turkey is majority Sunni that comes above all.
Damascus suburbs have fallen to rebels where they have toppled a statue of Assad’s father. Assad rumored to have left the country ( which may be true or not).
Multiple sources in Turkey are reporting that Assad has fled Syria and arrived in Abu Dhabi. https://nordot.app/1238233841299768102
