This seems racist. https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-associated-press-says-it-will-capitalize-black-but-not-white
Oh my...we are proceeding to Idiocracy faster than I thought. In proper writing any descriptive proper noun to refer to someone specific should be capitalized while the adjective form for things can be in lower case... A Black male Two Jewish women A Muslim owner Two White males A Republican voter When in doubt cap it out... AP is just joining in on the fucktardery
UH oh....no more Trade Giotto... Trader Joe’s is the most recent to join this effort. They’ve promised to removed “racist” names from their products after facing backlash for the stereotypical names the company attaches to various cuisines, such as “Trader José’s” for Mexican food, “Trader Ming’s” for Chinese food, “Trader Giotto’s” for Italian food, and “Arabian Joe’s” for Middle Eastern food.
I guess we can no longer refer to someone as an "average Joe". Now, depending on their race, we have to refer to them as an "Average Ming" or an "Average Jose" or "Your everyday Arabian" when we want to point out some guy from the Middle East. In effect, we've gone to specifically calling people out by race now, which is something true racists absolutely love. Real White Supremacists are saying "WTF...we've been saying this all along!" Well done! Full circle!
When I got out of the USAF in 1980 a few air force buddies moved to Pasadena with me. We found this little store on Arroyo Parkway. Just a dark dusty little store with some exotic cheeses, lots of nuts and a big shelf full of german desert wines. All of us had spend a lot of time in W. Germany and we all had developed a taste for reisling ausleses and here was a shop brimming with the best. He had auslese, spatlese, beerenauslese, trokenbeerenauslese and eiswein. He even had my absolute favorite reisling I discovered, a rhine wine called Bernkasteler Doctor. We were stunned. I was in the place weekly. That store was the first Trader Joe's.
It is a great store and I thought it was cute the names for the different regional foods, i.e. the pasta was Trader Giotto and the Tortilla Chips were Trader Jose.... I never heard of any of those groups claiming the naming was offending them, it was not like there was a Mexican guy in a sterotypical mariachi outfit....
When are white folk going to get offended by that stuff we call "Wonder Bread"? I mean, WTF? It is a white bread but I do not want to be labeled as being "wonderful", because that implies I am superior to non-white people. Especially since it is made by "Bimbo" Bakery for some countries. Wake up white people.
Yeah, but how come whites are not offended by it? Shouldn't we cancel Wonder Bread so we do not eventually become offended by it?
