TD Ameritrade API Question

Discussion in 'Automated Trading' started by facebookapi123, Jul 8, 2016.

  1. Hi, If you are a TD Ameritrade API user, can you please answer this question:

Does TD Ameritrade API has a method/api to get 'Stock Scan' results? I have created a Stock Scan under 'Stock Hacker' in TOS. I want to know if I can call an api to get the updated scan results for my scan? My plan is to place BUY/SELL orders in my code based on the scan results.

I still don't have access to their API. Appreciate your help! Thanks a bunch.

    Thanks!

Why not ask these type of questions directly to TD?

  3. @1245, I sent them few emails(it is the only way to reach the API team), and they don't respond properly. They always give a canned reply that the API access needs $500,000/30 trades per quarter etc. regardless of the question asked. That's why I am trying to get help from fellow traders who are using the TDAmeritrade API.

    Thanks!

Maybe it's time to move to another broker and use another API

  5. TDA'S current API does not have access to scan results and as of right now it is restricted to high volume or high net worth clients. Basically, the API does not have TOS specific functionality. Hopefully both will change in the not too distant future.

A little bad news. The non-display market data fees that mostly hit remote servers are also going to hit some API users. I heard the NYSE is starting to audit the firms and platforms that offer an API. If the API is connected to an exchange gateway for trading, the NYSE wants the higher fees. I think this is a disgusting display of greed that stems from a near monopoly. I normally don't complain about fees because these are for profit businesses but this is just wrong. Each of these platforms also have a GUI and use a display to view the MD but they don't care.

Get ready to pay higher fees in the coming year.

  7. Thanks @j_medved . Too bad that the API doesn't provide access to Scan results. Thanks for your answer.

    Thanks!
