It's days like today where I value having multiple brokerage accounts. Not sure what happened but for half an hour I couldn't open trades or close them, through the web UI, through the mobile interface or through the desktop client. I obviously wasn't alone although based on the limited number of messages on twitter I wonder if people just don't care or if there are not a lot of active traders on the platform to begin with. https://twitter.com/search?q=tastyworks Pretty sucky timing for an outage when the S&P moves 40some points.
Looks like their server was overwhelmed by the busy market. Today is like a live stress test for Tastyworks. Unfortunately its clients are the collateral damage as they obviously did not pass the test.
Disclaimer System response and access times may vary due to trading volume, market conditions, system performance, and other factors.
Testing should have been performed on simulated scenarios. If you're actually correct then Tastyworks is a joke.
Only to Forex trading and usually during extreme news events like NFP, Fed rate announcement but never for exchange-traded products like futures and options and etc. unless it was really due to a problem with the exchanges. What happened at Tastyworks is scary. And the fact that they didn't even acknowledge it as a system-wide problem and instead treated it as individual issues is even scarier.
