Tape Reading Renaissance

My first experiences with trading was tape reading. About the same time that DOS charting programs were emerging after a decade of using spreadsheets. I have always loved tape reading, it keeps the mind sharp and active remembering history that is so easily potted on today's modern computer programs.

So I set out trying to use the latest in technology to create my own personal take on a more personalized type of ticker tape. With the help of GPT 4.0 to do most the heavy coding for me, I was able to focus on letting my mind run dictating experiences long forgotten about tape reading.

The tape is the numbers indicator at the bottom of the chart which is 5 full point Kase range bars. Time has been eliminated from this chart, so I added that back in. However time does not dictate the formation of the bars such as using bars based on a time interval. Range bars rather use size of movement to form the bar range specified no matter the time it takes to form.

This tape is designed to prioritize volume in check with price action to determine a summary of each bars velocity and acceleration without the use of a time element. It's the purest form to date achieved to breakdown actual total knowledge of not only price movement but also price reasoning which is not often solved using just the human mind through observation. A sort of hidden agenda is revealed when it occasionally occurs. The type movement that baffles an otherwise well thought out trading plan.

Im tired of typing "typed this myself " and your tired of reading so here is my new born baby. m

Well Done! Using old school things that still apply, with new methods (automation) to massage, filter, amalgamate to create an actionable summary!

Thank's it's actually taking what people think is intuition or their feelings and confronting that with cold hard facts. This is a tremendous amount of work that hardly anyone would take the time to completely face the truth about their emotions of trading. This type of study forces you to stop wishing and hoping and start knowing and take action based on facts.

  4. Good Evening MarkBrown,

I always enjoy your charts and analysis and practical approach to day trading the markets so a human being can look for opportunities.

    Great write up. Thank you,

I don't see where gpt comes in or provides any benefits? OP blocks me but read his post in incognito mode and the post does not make much sense. First of all, tape reading is dead, as in DEAD. A too large percentage of orders and fills are nowadays hidden/reported late to provide any tape reading benefits at all. Price moved way before many trades are reported and a lot of larger orders are not even shown on the tape, at least in the time framework OP describes.

Next, where does gpt come in other than just helping with coding. Certainly it does not provide any benefit in real-time decision making on short term price and volume changes.

Keep in mind, this is the same OP who keeps on jumping from one approach to another all the time, seemingly clueless, not sure where his newfound confidence stems from, certainly not from anything he has shared thus far. Probably a coding error, produced by gpt, lol.

And do you have anything substantive to add to the topic at hand?

M.W. I see responses to you and decided to unblock you, I don't even know why were blocked but I have a feeling I will remember soon nuff.

I sincerely want to discuss any methods "i skip around alot cause i know alot about winning and losing" .

This is not your daddy's tape reading - it's something on a far different level. If you have no interest that's fine if you do ask and I will discuss.

As far as GPT 4.0 it can type out ideas in code that you verbally can express to it. I have dictation software and a headset, so I set and discuss back and forth what I'm trying to accomplish which is pretty complex. Free from typing, I am able to escalate the idea and perfect the code in far less time than days of old.

I don't depend on the AI to come up with my logic, rather it's fantastic assistant to work with.

    let our responses be civil
