Swiss "Socialist Paradise" Approves 'Universal Basic Income' Of $2,750 A Month

  1. "...the money for the initiative must come from "private" sources (the village plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign to help finance the "experiment)..."

Tech executives including Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have also publicly expressed support for a basic income, while several countries - including Finland, Canada, Kenya and the Netherlands - have launched experiments of their own.

But unfortunately for everyone who dreams of one day living a life without the burden of work, the results of these experiments have been mixed: Finland recently abandoned its UBI pilot program after two years..."

Nothing like "living at the expense of somebody else" to get the juices flowing.

  2. Q: There are those nasty critics, of course, who suggest that you don’t really want to bring [the Labour Party] down at the moment. Life is a bit too difficult in the country, and that … leave them to sort the mess out and then come in with the attack later … say next year.

A: I would much prefer to bring them down as soon as possible. I think they’ve made the biggest financial mess that any government’s ever made in this country for a very long time, and Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They always run out of other people’s money. It’s quite a characteristic of them. They then start to nationalise everything, and people just do not like more and more nationalisation, and they’re now trying to control everything by other means. They’re progressively reducing the choice available to ordinary people.

Having to work is so.... "inconvenient", you know. Gets in the way of having fun, hanging out, getting high...

How about Work or Starve as the appropriate public policy.

At this stage with so many Americans now into free stuff, I don't think beating our heads against the wall for smaller govt is going to work. The cronies want drones and the drones want free stuff. Unless we get the money out of politics the 70 percent of the country who believes in work and fair taxes will never win.

So.. now I am all for frees stuff if we can retire 90 percent of the govt workers dedicated to free stuff over time.

Also everyone should have to pay equal percentages of taxes. Even on the free stuff.

Sure, bring in universal basic income. The math doesn't work when you have your house in order. Can you imagine what it will do to a country already mired in debt? Bring on the end that much quicker so no one wants another socialist idea for another 500 years.
