Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew of a course or a book or a service that provided good swing trades. I'm looking to invest my 401k and try and get some better returns. I'm relatively young, stable job, good salary, and I would like to swing trade. I know of the risks but I cannot daytrade at this point and figured I would ask. Please no flaming, I know there is no holy grail, just looking for some solid advice. PM me or post here, either way is fine. Thank you for your time.
Hey StockBagger, When I first got started in the markets I also considered swing trading. Although I don't do it any more, here's the site I used to get my feet wet: http://www.swing-trade-stocks.com/learn-swing-trading.html It's rather well written, and I found it useful. If you don't understand anything written on the site, use Google and keep Googling. Hope this helps! Best of luck on your journey. Remember to start small!
I doubt you will be able to swing trade in a 401k. Most only allow a move once a quarter. But you are correct, if you have a choice, it is better to trade more actively in a tax sheltered account where you pay no capital gains and keep your personal account passively indexed where you pay less cap gains and less operating expense.
Best book on swing trading is from Larry Connors. No bullshit, just solid back-tested facts. Let me know if you can't find him on google.
