Now you guys know how I hate to go long anything, but keep an eye on this one if the markets are green this week. You wouldn't think it would be a good long, indeed.... it appears to be a good short.... but I have seen this chart pattern in the past and this thing will more than likely head north this week. Make sure you pull up a 5 year if you look at it. CEO just announced he is stepping down. (I think he is Taylor Swift's dad btw.... (no wonder she broke the seemingly unbreakable music barrier huh? Money certainly helps.)).
Every time in the last five years when the 50 crossed the 200 day when they were both moving up.... this puppy has taken off. Friday, while the rest of the market floundered, this thing makes a new 52 week high.... on big volume. The conference call was weak imo, the biggest thing being the CEO was stepping down. They re-iterated guidance but said GAAP earnings would fall short due to his severance package. Non-GAAP would be fine. This is a trucking company. Again.... it should be a screaming short, but as was pointed out to me in a GREAT post somewhere here, there are times when the charts portend insider knowledge. This is one of those times I think. I need to find that post. It was a good one.
This is the post.... for me it was monumental.... Chris Mac (under Kroger): If we lived in a perfect world, numbers would be known by everyone at the same time. Insiders would follow the rules, and anything could happen. Reality is that insiders and friends, hackers, HFT firms got numbers days, minutes or even seconds before everyone and what are they doing ? They abuse the majority and buy / sell before ER. So you better be with them rather than with the majority. TA and price action show what insiders / big hands are doing or trying to do secretly: accumulation ? distribution ? Fake movements and manipulations? Real intentions? Remember, the tape tells all. Price and volume don't cheat and just reflect confidence / fear about a company, a sector at any moment. That is why I like to follow small / micro caps. Less cheaters, manipulators to try to abuse you. Generally I don't know what these companies are doing / producing and I don't care. Price action tells you to enter / exit without guessing about business / prospect / future. On the other hand, if you trade companies you know, you may not stay neutral, you got tons of "feelings", "rumors", "news" and this is not the good way to make money. Again, I recommend to everyone who wants to make money to read, reread and analyze "Secrets for profiting in bull and bear markets". Still true after 30 years. CM
Either way, I got out near the top (12:55PM)..... I was only referring to today's stock price.... not the trade. Matters not........AAPL is kililn' me in a big way.
