Is it a standard operating procedure at IBKR to ignore support requests sent by email from not-yet-clients? Do they reply once you actually become a client? What forms of communication are possible? A different topic - can a pre-determined equity level triggering auto-liquidation of all positions in the account be set in Trader Workstation or any other platform that supports IBKR?
My experience with ibkr support is less than impressive. You can call on the phone, but the phone person seems to act like they can't do anything themselves and asks you to fill out a ticket. You get the impression they're just trying to get you off the phone as quick as possible. I would rate Schwab's support as significantly better. I have accounts at each.
Considering that Schwab was the pioneer of discount brokerage, it's kinda funny how they're now more full-service than these other crappy outfits.
Hey guys, I'm on there too. Same deal with the support like good luck but how much money you feel safe putting on ibkr?
Maybe others who are here and who have their account with IB can comment in more detail... But in general IB is the, or is one of the, most fanatical brokerages about higher initial margins, liquidations of bad positions (sometimes to aggressive), overall margin limits, SMA etc. compared to other Brokers.
They don't provide support via email anymore. The only way to receive support via the written form is to create a support ticket.
Please see my response below: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/support/customer-service.php?p=email. Other forms of communication are phone and chat. As far as I know, no. Any auto-liquidation of positions is determined by IB via their proprietary algorithms based on your equity level and the potential risk of your position (calculated by their proprietary formula). So if they deem your position to be too "risky" based on their calculation, your position maybe fully auto-liquidated or partially auto-liquidated even though your position is profitable. Their formula does NOT take into account the profitability of the position.
