The more I look at this play on businessinsider it looks like defensive pass interference by New England. Maybe the game was fixed. It's not like Vegas would of lost any money had the Hawks won the game by 3 points right? http://www.businessinsider.com/how-malcolm-butler-ended-up-with-the-patriots-2015-2 Another video which doesn't really show the interference. Bad angle:
It was close, very close. I would hate to see the refs decide the SB. On the one hand, you don't want them calling a ticky tack PI penalty. On the other, the WR got knocked flying so it was hardly incidental contact. The DB has as much right to go for the ball as the receiver. If he gets there first, no PI, which appears to be what happened here. As I recall Sherman's INT against the Niners last year in the NFC title game involved some contact as well. This is why west coast offenses, which use lots of slant passes like this, have to have big WRs.
Not mad. It's just the NFL ref's miss a lot of calls. They missed a call last year that probably would of kept the Seahawks out of the Super bowl during the 49'er/Seahawk Championship game. Roughing the kicker. You might of seen it. I believe they missed a call in the Super bowl this year when the Seahawks roughed the kicker. The NFL ref's are half blind.
