i have no idea but i would pay it to keep the conversations to trading. i just looked at many trading forums don't even have wall street news, economics and political sections and they don't even have sponsorship most of them. this is really the mods fault it's not policed better. but hey it's their cesspool to let the pigs swim in not mine. i can't get a word in about trading for being constantly attacked by shit heads, that are hiding behind fake ass names. the owner of the forum and myself are probably the only two with real names. i would require that whatever name was on the credit card is the username. that would put an end to all this shit.
There are pay sites. Not nearly as entertaining as ET. Trading gets pretty boring once you know what you are doing.
I've tried it multiple times over the years and the membership model doesn't work. Period. X/Twitter is currently trying it and they are also discovering that it's a joke compared to the advertising model catered to free users. In regards to the political posts, I understand that there has been an influx of those posts recently, but on the flip side, there's also been a tremendous number of political decisions made recently that have been very "market-oriented" and affect businesses across the globe. Just yesterday for example, you could go the front page of the WSJ and see that over 80% of the headlines either had "trump", "tariffs", or a similar politically-driven slant to them. So with that said, I think it's a little unreasonable to think that people won't want to discuss these decisions and headlines that are literally being published on financial news outlets EVERYWHERE, such as CNBC, Financial Times, WSJ, etc. Look, if you want more trading-specific discussions, then be the change you want to see in others by starting those threads yourself. You can't just point the finger at everybody else, posts derogatory replies in the threads you don't like, and then expect the world to wrap around your desires. It doesn't work like that. You have to demonstrate the attributes that what you want others to see and follow.

I see your points all well taken - consider this - when you make a politics post and other types of post they do not show up on the NEWEST post at all. Consider limiting the NEWEST to trading related threads and post because that what this forum is a Trading forum. Just give Wall Street news which is being abused the same treatment you give Politics or other non trading specific topics. Political banter is being artificially kept in the Newest post all day every day. This is a deliberate attempt, I can get some 5iver's to post all day and drown the whole forum with pro-trump wall street news. That's my best argument I have on the subject. @deaddog being part of the solution sad what is happening here. Clearly this is beyond news this is POLITICAL STATEMENTS EACH DAY DISGUISED AS WALL STREET NEWS.
You want the block function back. Why not just ignore those you would block? You never see their posts so you won't feel the need to comment. It's your choice after all. No one is forcing you to participate in this forum.
