Stop on a Spread?

Discussion in 'Options' started by SoCalOptionsWriter, Sep 20, 2023.

  1. If I leg into a spread, a deliberately or accidentally, and I later want to place a stop loss as a spread, can I do this? How?

  2. What about normal/usual stop loss with each leg? Ie. 2 SL orders.

  3. Um, the price I want to get in total could vary on each leg separately.

  4. IMO
    • Options are too volatile to use a stop.
    • One of the legs of a spread is your stop.

I don’t think exchanges support stops on spreads natively but your broker might.

It's called slippage. Every trade has slippage.
