14 Illegal Aliens Charged with Stealing Social Security Numbers from US Citizens

More than a dozen illegal aliens are facing federal charges for allegedly stealing the identities of American citizens and defrauding the Social Security Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Friday.

According to a press release from the agency’s Tampa field office, 18 illegal aliens, 12 of whom are from Honduras, were each charged with aggravated identity theft, misuse of Social Security numbers, and false statements regarding citizenship with the intent to engage unlawfully in employment.

Each defendant — including one Guatemalan and one Mexican national — were each indicted on separate dates over the past two years.

If convicted on all counts, each faces a minimum penalty of two years, up to 12 years, in federal prison, ICE noted in the press release.

The arrests were made as part of an inter-agency operation that included ICE, U.S. Customs And Border Patrol, the U.S. Department of Labor and several local law enforcement agencies in Florida, among others.

The arrests come as the Trump Administration seeks to crack down on identify theft committed by illegal aliens.

An Arizona woman recently pleaded guilty in federal court to defrauding U.S. companies in a scheme that generated roughly $17 million for herself and the authoritarian government of North Korea.

Christina Marie Chapman, 48, of Litchfield Park, Arizona pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, identity theft, and conspiracy to launder monetary instruments, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Chapman was involved in a scheme that assisted foreign IT workers who posed as U.S. citizens in order to work remote jobs for more than 300 American companies.

The scheme generated nearly $17 million in illicit revenue for herself and for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) government, according to the news release.

In addition, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced a deal with ICE to help the agency more easily locate and detain illegal aliens with outstanding deportation orders. The agency is also developing a task force to find and detain illegal aliens who are engaged in identity theft and Social Security fraud.

Some Americans from the left will cheer those stealing Social Security numbers until you find out you are one of the victims. Illegals will claim benefits due to you and when you file to claim Social Security benefits, you will not get your benefits because the Social Security Administration will have you on record as already claiming benefits. What do you do then?
