How do investment banks figure to do durring stagflation, if the U.S. ends up with stagflation.

How did they make out during the upcoming Depression some traders were talking about in 2009 ?

  3. Oh, some of them have their back-stabbing shenanigans in order to survive :)

Ok, well Lehman maybe failed- but that's another scenario.

    Good times = ridiculous leverage
    Bad times = government bailouts

    Thanks a lot, Keynes

  5. You know, when it comes to investment banks, I do have significant holdings in BMO. They seem to have a ridiculous unfair advantage, in that the Canadian government is never going to let them go under, and also they get many more unfair monopoly rights due to the fact the Canadian government doesn't want competition against its banks.

And to further push a point, the top Canadian banks just keep gobbling up US financial institutions and pushing deeper into the US.

Seems like a good win/win scenario if Investment Banking is your desire of investing? I suppose, there is always that black swan of some rogue trader causing a 100 Billion loss on nat-gas futures for the bank or something... haha.
